• Panels is misunderstood.
• There seems to be this love hate relationship with Panels. Some people I talk to hate Panels with a passion.
• FORGET PANELS

It's way too slow!

• I'll hear things like, it's way too heavy. Well Drupal is heavy, how do you solve that? With caching.
• Also, Panels has a pluggable caching system, you can write your own caching for each pane, or use the built in caching plugins to cache heavy panes.
• I think it's best to show the power by just showing you, so the rest of this presentation is just going to be a demo.

• How many people here went to my last session?
• One of the core concepts that I talked about was "Inheritance".
• Views is one of the few sub systems in Drupal 7 that is Object Oriented and uses Ineritance quite a bit for writing handlers, as you'll see.
