- Now go to all your social feeds and tell everyone to subscribe (just kidding) kind of.
- We are going to be publishing the 3 sessions that I'm giving this week on our channel
- Panels is misunderstood.
- There seems to be this love hate relationship with Panels. Some people I talk to hate Panels with a passion.
- FORGET PANELS
It's way too slow!
- I'll hear things like, it's way too heavy. Well Drupal is heavy, how do you solve that? With caching.
- Also, Panels has a pluggable caching system, you can write your own caching for each pane, or use the built in caching plugins to cache heavy panes.
- I think it's best to show the power by just showing you, so the rest of this presentation is just going to be a demo.
We'll do it live
- How many people here went to my last session?
- One of the core concepts that I talked about was "Inheritance".
- Views is one of the few sub systems in Drupal 7 that is Object Oriented and uses Ineritance quite a bit for writing handlers, as you'll see.
