one hour

  • We plan a project, collect materials, and come in for a single 1-2 hour long workshop conducted with your assistance during regular class time.

ten hours

  • We plan a longer-term project with your help, coming in for 1-2 hours each day to build on the same things, coming up with materials to complement projects and populate interest centers.

culmination

  • We come in for a week, like the previous, but also plan a larger-scale culminating work-product or event to show off our work, invite families to participate, or to share with the school community.

  • design and draw characters and sets
  • observe differences between bases
  • talk about spinning, pushing, pulling

ten hours

  • build bases using modular pieces
  • design characters based on gestures
  • talk about converting forces

culmination

  • video record each automata in action
  • create collaborative music video
  • display gallery of wooden automata
