DSxD Labs

Multi-discipline program for our solution practice

Our Premise

  • The technology team within our solution practice is client delivery focused
  • We must evolve by creating a facility for discovery, especially as our solution practice grows within EPAM
  • The solution?
    • We develop a group who collaborates outside of client projects to build thought leadership by exploring technology and new processes.

Benefits

  • Solution starters
    • Reusable code bases
    • Modular code frameworks
    • Internal Process Tools
    • Starting points for new Technology Platforms
  • Thought Leadership
    • Build Best practices
    • Drive internal Disciplines standards
    • Promote domain expertise internally and externally

Benefits (cont.)

  • Growth
    • We must invest into our own talent, and allow ourselves to grow.
    • Attracts and retain the best people, we have to allow the freedom to be innovative.

How Will It Work?

Board Oversight

  • Management Board will be established to oversee work in the Lab
    • Selects proposals and lab presentations
    • Creates requests for Labs
    • Reviews Lab output
    • Determines Eligibility for Lab participation

Staffing

  • Dedicated Staff
    • The Lab participants are dedicated to the Lab while working in the Lab
      • Split attention is not a model that works
    • Allows team members to focus on the objective
    • More dynamic solutions = wider & deeper impact
  • Staffing Model
    • Technology Director who is responsible for the lab
      • 25% allocated
    • Lab Participants
      • 2 Full time employees for the duration of the lab

  • Deliverables are not limited to the Lab Proposal itself
    • attend meetups
    • contribute to EPAM branded blogs
    • update EPAM confluence
  • Bottom Line: it’s a lot of work

Lab Outputs

  • this includes lunch and learns, blogs, miniq, conferences, hackathons, competitions, white papers, Knowledge Base, etc.
  • End of Experiment publications
  • hand offs to lab, client, internal etc.
