Automating the archive

What's happening

Scanning

Scanning requirements

  • Embedded quality matrix in file (stamp showing DPI, original file format)
  • .TIFF (1200 dpi) and .JPEG (600 dpi) derivatives for web applications
  • Full set with colour correction (white background)
  • Full set cropped for mosaicking
  • Flat bed scanner
  • Adjust for glare if maps encapsulated

Goals

Goals

  • Generate shapefile footprints for index
  • Bundle maps with metadata for export
  • Georeference cropped maps
  • Use batch processes as much as possible
  • Minimal manual processing
  • Flexible enough for future projects
