Introduction to the

Ryerson Library

The Ryerson Library collection consists of millions of resources to help you learn, study, and succeed. The collection, including books, e-books, databases, journals, audiovisual materials, and data, contains materials related to all of Ryerson's courses, departments, and strategic research areas.

Basics

Location

2nd floor of 350 Victoria St - marked as LIB on campus maps.

Accessible via the Podium Building (POD) and the Student Learning Centre (SLC).

Hours

Monday - Friday: 7:00 am to 1:00 am

Saturday - Sunday: 10:00 am to 1:00 am

Accessing Library Resources

All you need is a valid One Card for print materials and an active my.ryerson account for electronic resources.

Accessiblity

For students registered with Academic Accommodation Support, we can provide alternative formats for textbooks, course readings, library books, handouts, websites, and other course materials.

Getting Help

iDesk

Located to the right of the POD entrance.

Staff at the iDesk can help with:

  • Directions
  • Quick lookups
  • Technical problems including passwords, wifi, printers, photocopiers, and more

Circulation Desk

Located to the left of the POD entrance.

Staff at the Circulation Desk can help with:

  • Checking out books
  • Getting items that are on course reserve
  • Loan periods and fines
  • Laptop loans
  • OneCard problems

Research Help Desk

Located to the right of the SLC entrance.

Staff at the Research Help Desk can help with:

  • Understanding and using university-level research strategies
  • Finding credible, appropriate sources
  • Accessing resources
  • Citation management help

Study & Learn

Computers

There are computers on the main, 3rd, and 6th floors. We have a list of computer availability as well as installed software on our website.

Specialty GIS software installed on computers in the Geospatial Map & Data Centre on the main floor.

Laptop loans can be obtained from the Circulation Desk.

Individual Study Space

Space for quiet study is located on the 6th, 7th, and 9th floors. On these floors, there is no talking or whispering, no group study, and use of cell phones elsewhere.

Space for silent study is located on the 10th floor. On this floor, no talking or whispering, there is no group study, no use of cell phones, minimal and quiet keyboarding, mute all audio and no eating.

Study Rooms

Group project work and collaborative study are encouraged on the 4th and 8th floors.

Group study rooms are also available - there are over 100 in the Library and SLC, bookable online.

Digital Media Experience Lab

Open to everyone at Ryerson, the DME is a space on the 3rd floor of the SLC where students can learn about, experiment with, and collaborate with others on emerging technologies and new media.
