Welcome

2014-15 has been another busy year for VAL. Here's what we've been up to.

Creating a Thriving Local Sector

In 2014-15 we helped 1,120 groups generate £6,278,769 of new income and trained 708 people.

Sending a Message

We also helped Musical Youth win £3,727 so that 20 children could send a message on cyber bullying. Learn more

Finding a New Home

With our support, the Chinese elderly group won £2,865 so that its social club could find a permanent home. Learn more

Connecting the Sector

Members of one of VALs 23 forums have a lively discussion about issues affecting local communities

We welcomed 474 people at 23 forums and 98 delegates at Future Focus 2014.

Empowering Local Communities

We supported 21 communities to take over their libraries and awarded the first nine grants from the £1 million St Matthews Big Local programme.

Empowering Volunteers

Over the past year we supported 3,921 people to find volunteering roles. They contributed £4,590,768 to the local economy.

Becoming Independent

We helped 30 people like Jon find volunteering roles and become more independent through our work at the Me and My Learning Centre.

We recruited 70 volunteers who gave 695 hours to support the historic events surrounding King Richard III's Reinterment. Read more

Supporting Children, Young People & Families

We hold the contracts for a variety of services that help children and families succeed.

Our children, young people and families team saw a 47% increase in referrals, launched a new service and trained 2,000 people who support children and families.

Meeting Service Providers

Local Offer Leicester held an event which gave disabled children and young people and their families the opportunity to meet service providers. Learn More

A Voice in Health & Social Care

We also hold the contract for Healthwatch Leicestershire. Healthwatch Leicestershire helps people speak out on health and social care.

Healthwatch Leicestershire engaged with 5,621 individuals at 200 activities and events.

Leicester Royal Infirmary

Healthwatch Leicestershire spoke to 262 patients over the course of a week at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Learn more

Supporting People with Learning Disabilities

VALUES is a VAL project that enriches the lives of people who have learning disabilities.

This year VALUES welcomed 101 people, provided 13,000 hours of support and launched a new dating service.

Football and Fun
