Agenda
- What the heck is Developer Advocacy anyway?
- A day in the life
- How Jenny got there
These have something in common
They're all written using the Firebase API. The thing I work on.
Developer Advocates help products be successful through a developer ecosystem.

Developer advocates are software engineers who also like to
- Hack up silly demos
- Write words
- Travel around and give talks (like this one)
- Help people build cool stuff
There are no typical days
- Learning a new programming language
- Traveling to a conference in a far away land
- Teaching a workshop
- Staying up all night at a hackathon
- Collaborating with an engineer on an API design
- Pitching a book

How I got here
- Didn't know what to do, so studied Computer Engineering
- Did a bunch of internships
- Found a real job coding
- Sold that same software
- Developer Relations became a thing
- Bounced back and fourth between software engineering and DevRel
What do I want to be when I grow up?
I still have no idea.
And that's OK.
We talked about this stuff
- There's this thing called Developer Advocacy
- A day in the life
- How Jenny got there
