Pacifism21.org

A project whose time has come.

Presentation by Marc Eliot Stein

Change is Happening Fast in 2015

  • Gay Marriage
  • Marijuana Legalization
  • Fighting Back Against Police Abuse
  • Fighting Back Against Sexual Abuse
  • New Kinds of Leaders: Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Pope Francis

People Are Taking Control in 2015

  • Occupy Wall Street

But ... one crucial piece is missing.

Where is Pacifism in 2015?

  • Why is the word so rarely used?
  • Why do so few people believe that a popular movement to reduce global militarism can succeed?
  • Why do the enormous practical benefits of a more peaceful planet get so little attention?

Rescue the word, rescue the idea.

  • By opening a vibrant public conversation about the meaning of the word "pacifism" we can call attention to the important ideas the word represents.

Peace is the Essential Ingredient.

War is toxic to progress on every critical issue:
  • Individual Privacy
  • Environment
  • Economy
  • Democracy and Free Press
  • Human Rights
  • Prevention of Slavery and Genocide
