Releasing Drupal 8 Beta
What does it take to release beta?
- 24h code freeze - first try from Sunday midnight
- Monday was beta testing day - we found 4 beta-blockers
- People worked like crazy
- Last beta-blocker was solved during Driesnote!
- 24h code freeze - and Drupal 8 beta was out finally!
What does beta phase mean?
Time to port contribs to Drupal 8
Getting things into core is harder
Time to test & give feedback!
When it will be released?
After all critical issues have been solved we relase RC1
If no new criticals have been discovered Drupal 8 will be released
200 beta-blockers took 9 months
125 critical issues left
with same speed ~7 months for RC1
Never ever base your business on any given Drupal 8 date!
