My Dream Job

Web Developer/Designer

Created by Vasil Kocev / Student in 10th grade.

Why do I like this job ?

I like this job because it gives me the opportunity to be creative and express my creativity through the world wide web.

You would normally work 37 to 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. You may have to work extra hours to meet deadlines or when there are problems with a website. If you were self-employed, you would set your own working hours.

Oh hey, these are some notes. They'll be hidden in your presentation, but you can see them if you open the speaker notes window (hit 's' on your keyboard).

Necessary qualifications

You don't need a specific degree to work as a freelance front and back end developer. However, if you want more flexibility and control over your designs, the knowledge of coding, scripting and programming would be useful. This includes knowledge in:

JavaScript

HTML

HyperText Markup Language

CSS

Cascading Style Sheets

XML

Extensible Markup Language

jQuery

Ruby on Rails

MySQL Database

Income

Starting salaries can be between £23,000 and £28,000 a year. The average salary is £57,000. Experienced designers can earn up to £72,500 a year, and senior designers and those with specialist skills can earn over £80,000 a year.

£1 = € 1.2621

Am I ready for this ?

I think I am ready for a web DESIGNER.

My plans for the future.

I still don't know if this is going to be my full time job in the near future. It is definitely a backup plan because I have another hobby that I would like to realise as my job but it is very difficult to succeed in that sphere.

Letter of application

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing in response to your advertisement in craigslist.com.
As requested, I am enclosing a completed job application, my certification,
my resume and portfolio. I would be grateful if you would consider my application
for the vacancy in your L.A. office.

I am a sixteen-year-old high school student and am very interested in this position.
When I leave school, I plan to study web development and administration.
This would be a perfect opportunity for me to gain experience.

Although I have no formal work experience, I have a few projects behind my back,
where I have designed, maintained and administrated web services. I have moderate
knowledge in javascript, css, HTML and web hosting.

I would describe myself as motivated and confident in my skills. I am a sociable
person and I enjoy working with others as part if a team. I also believe that
I am capable of working alone and able to use my own initiative.

If you wish me to attend an interview, I am available at any time. Thank you for
considering my application. I look forward to hearing from you.

   Yours faithfully,
   Vasil Kocev

THE END
